Any advice please ?  All appears to continue to work but bits have been removed. Ball bearings not coming out although some are missing.

Looks like it’s been rather hot. No option but to replace it. Those RL5s are getting expensive , try Simply Bearings , they may give an option of an economy one.

Thanks both,

I've ordered one 16 inner  40  outer   12 width/ depth...may fit , may not £10.

Any thoughts on where to get a RS5 ?

None on Ebay.

These will be a standard size bearing - not proprietary to the mower - and should be readily available. Bear in mind too that they will almost certainly be Imperial dimensions.

I have in the past bought Imperial bearings from suppliers including Simply Bearings (mentioned in a previous response) and Wych Bearings which is currently listing the RLS5 at £3.52 ex VAT for the open version and £3.81 ex VAT for the enclosed version. Both would be OK for your machine I would expect.

Very clear advice. Thankyou so much. I have ordered one from Wych.

I just need a couple of Ransome carriages now ( for less than £25  on ebay !)

I have used Aruldite to repair mine, broken in a vice when straightening !   I don't know if that is strong enough.

Please let me know how you get on with finding Ransome carriages for £25. I had to pay in excess of £100 each for the couple I’ve got for my marquises . Maybe I’m looking in the wrong places lol.

Simply Bearings SKF RL5 £7+. ea. correct quality self aligning bearing.

RLS5, single line rigid £5.42 +or £5.54 +shielded.

What are Carriages, not a term that I’m familiar with ?

Hi Angus. I wonder if a 'Carriage' is the 2 wheeled frame for moving the mower over rough surfaces? Photo shows a JP Carrier. Maybe??

Cheers.

Understood. Would probably understood earlier had it not suddenly cropped up in a thread about bearings!

Ah got it, you are talking about Front Roller Brackets for an Ajax???

Yes they are called carriages on parts list but probably never referred to in that way in modern times!

Out of interest the wheeled carriage for the Webb is actually referred to as a 'transporter'.

It may be helpful in future to supply images they speak a thousand words!
