Some of you may have now seen the Repair Shop video featuring the Ransomes Ajax restoration.

What the programme didn't include was how the nearside snapped front roller bracket mysteriously became complete when the mower was re-assembled. This was in fact down to our club shopkeeper Colin  Stone who supplied the said part, also giving advice on the merits of retaining the original transfer.

As with many programme makers, they are takers, not givers, and no mention of Colin or the club was made to acknowledge the advice given.

I noted on other forums that the painting of the cylinder in green was criticised, however as mentioned recently on other threads we have seen many Ajax's particularly Mk3's with original green cylinders.

A couple of amusing bits from the film, the commentary is stating that "Ransomes were making mowers in their distinctive green livery since 1832" at that point they show an Anglo Paris advert with a blue mower!!

The show presenter Jay Blades towards the end says "Nice to see someone smile over a lawn mower, you don't often see that" , where has he been I ask myself?

I'm writing this on behalf of Colin who probably will not get to see the video until its on YouTube, as he doesn't pay a TV licence, all above board though, I'm envious that he's seen the light and doesn't have a TV.

I wrote a letter to the BBC saying I no longer wanted to pay the licence fee and had no interest in watching live tv anymore about 5 years ago. I've not missed it once.

I'm sorry to read of how all in TV land isn't always as straightforward as we hope, I have friends who've thrown out their TV's decades ago and are better for it too. Maybe not the right place to offer my opinion here, but the BBC in particular does seem very biased against things these days and seems to make comments that the nation as a whole doesn't always share. " In spite of Brexit" etc. on their news programmes is just one instance.

Admin please wipe these comments if you think them out of place.

The BBC is staffed mainly by overpaid liberal lefties who mainly think civilisation ends at M25.

Hahaha Not of that. On this side of the channel the beeb is still watched daily but its news programmes are made by the brexit broadcasting corporation. :)

Anyway, must stop here, starts more to look like the CIF of newspaper. Let go back to mowers, shall we?

Could I suggest if you think a comment is perhaps not appropriate use common sense & don't post it, & save wasting other peoples time.
