A wooden mallet and a panel beater's dolly would be a lot more help than simply a big hammer and high hopes, do the biggest ones first, the sharp corners need to be concentrated on to get right or the job is never going to be right to look at, time and patience are other good tools. Metal is stretched in places so may never be possible to get 100% correct again, unless you have another panel beater's tool, for shrinking metal this time.

As a last resort, get a good welder to replace the very worst areas, but again, even with filler etc. it will take a lot of time, effort and energy to get it looking anything like.

It seems that a lot of folk that had machines didn't care for them very much, and/or youngsters or learners had a few crashes until they learned the ropes...

Hi Moorcroft Man. Read DJD's advice on how to tackle the dents....way beyond my skill set!! I acquired a Ransomes Ajax grass box for a mate from John and Ivor Gregory at the Old Lawnmower Company based near Tring, Herts. They advertise in our magazine 'Grassbox'. Might be worth a call if the dents prove too troublesome to rectify. Cheers. Rob
