Ransomes 1932 - 10" Centenary
Hi folks.
I saw in the latest 'Grassbox' that I received this morning, an ad regarding the availability of some push mowers from the late Dave Stanford's collection. I visited Brenda Stanford this afternoon and came away with a couple of machines and wondered if anyone might be able to give me any more information on the 10" Ransomes Centenary that I came home home with please.
A Webb Lawn Trimmer was the other machine I came away with.
Thanks for the cuppa Brenda!!

Thanks for the info Clive. I will be leaving the mower exactly as it is, just a good clean up, and sharpen blades if needed. I will keep an eye out for any ads/brochures etc. Just off to get a new tub of Elbow Grease. I used the last lot I had on my Qualcast Super Panther!! Cheers. Rob

Hi folks. Just wondering if the one piece wooden roller as on my Centenary is what would have been fitted when the mower was new, or, should it have 3 or 4 individual rollers.? As always, thanks for any help. Cheers. Rob

Hi folks. I realise that this request is similar to asking if any member might have a spare Unicorn they could let me have, but I thought I would ask the question in case I drop lucky. I am after a copy of the manual for my Centenary please. I am more than happy to pay for a copy of it. Thanks. Rob

HI Rob
Pleased you have rescued some more of Dave's mowers, this looks to be a good example, not many retain the original paint on the flags, be great to retain it like this.
As the name suggest the RSJ De-Luxe De-Luxe (so good they named it twice!) was launched in 1932 to celebrate 100yrs of Ransomes mower production. They were fairly short lived not appearing in the 1936 catalogue. (Ransomes records do indicate they were last sold until 1938) came in 10,12 & 14in.
Looks like they could well be one of the earliest Ransomes with pressed steel side frames rather than cast, the only other Ransomes push mower that springs to mind is the Countess with pressed steel frame which was around at the time.
There are some RSJ's with a simpler badge, assume this may have come after the intial production years, see image below.
