Amal fuel tap gasket
I am renovating a 1960s Ransome 14 mk1 serial number DE9645 fitted with an Amal 379 carb.
All is going well apart from a fuel starvation problem. The tank has been cleaned and a new hose fitted.
The fuel channels in the carb are all clear and the float is operating ok.
I think the problem is in the fuel tap which is part of the float chamber. The gasket is in poor condition and I suspect it is restricting the fuel supply.
I can't locate the exact gasket.
Has anyone experienced this problem and know where to get a gasket or is there an alternative.

Looks like a fairly standard quarter turn tap and in the absence of it as an Amal item it may be worth a call to George at Villiers Parts or Jon at the Hailsham Lawnmower Centre, or somewhere dealing in vintage motorcycle parts such as Villiers Services.
Unfortunately my Amal carb…
Unfortunately my Amal carb is different to the one in the diagram. Mine has got 379 stamped on it but the fuel tap at the bottom of the float chamber is different.

I’ve seen that type of tap on other things. Can’t recall what but one of the possibles in my first post should recognise it and, hopefully supply what you need. For the time being you can probably screw in a cheap plastic aftermarket tap to get the machine mobile.
Thanks for the advice. Jon…
Thanks for the advice.
Jon at Hailsham Mower Centre had a gasket which he promptly posted to me.

I would hope one of the participants on here can help. In the meantime, so that everyone is clear which items you need, would you mind looking at the diagram via the link (below) and specifying the part(s) you need? The supplier only has the parts highlighted in bold but knowing the numbers of the bits you need might help. Thanks.
