Any thoughts on these pawls ? They cant engage with the spocket...are there ' springs missing like the Ajax has ? I dont think so.The rollers ride around freely and dont engage the main spocket and chain, then they stick.

I wonder if the solution here is that there should be oil rather than grease in the mechanism. Perhaps give everything a good clean, remove the grease and any rust etc, give the pawls a going over with a wire brush, add a few drops of oil and reassemble. That should do the trick.

As per Olcadmin, it looks as though those pawls rely on gravity , and therefore need to be free to drop down and engage the rollers to that eccentric collar on the shaft. Unless the pawls have worn past the point where they can achieve that, a good clean up and light oiling should do the job.

Yes, many thanks both. I have used a second set of pawls from another Atlas which are not as worn but I will follow your advice .  Oil and gravity ....thankyou , knowledge I didn't have.
