Canal Business of Baker and Young Dissolved
The canals in the valley were a vital employer and important in all commerce.
The wife of John Lewis, patentee of the Cross Cutter, was called Esther Baker, fourth daughter of Mr John Baker of Brimscombe. John Ferrabee's wife's maiden name was Hester Baker.
Any possible family link needs more investigation.

Office is hereby given, that the Partnership between John Baker and Nehemiah Young, in the Sellmonger and Leather-dressing Business, carried on at the Bourne, in the Parish of Stroud, is this Day by mutual Consent dissolved. All Persons who stand indebted to the Concern are requested to pay the fame to John Baker; and all Persons who have any. Demands are desired to fend their Accounts to him for Payment.
