List of Shearing and Fustian Cutting Patents, 1775-1851

A list some of the patents registered between 1775 and 1851 covering the textile and related industries.

The list includes Lewis's Patent No. 3945, which is believed to have influenced Edwin Budding in conceiving the lawnmower cutting cylinder. Other patents listed prior to 1830, and particularly those local to the Stroud valleys, may also have contributed in Budding's "eureka moment".
