Old St Giles Church, Uley

Many of John Ferrabee's ancestors resided in Uley. Edwin Budding in working at the nearby Uley Ironworks would recognise this building and if in the area on a Sunday could have attended services here. 

Described in the Building's of England by David Verey and Alan Brooks as "The enclosed valley of the River Ewelme was the scene of considerable industrial activity in the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1608 three clothiers in Uley already marketed the products of twenty nine local weavers, of whom made broadcloth."
