Gardner's Patent Turnip Cutter

After his death in the late 1840s; James Gardener's works in Fish Street, Banbury was taken over by Bernhard Samuelson. At that time Gardner's Patent Turnip Cutter was a highly acclaimed product, produced in Banbury prior to Samuelson taking up lawnmower manufacture in around 1850.

This later Turnip Cutter was produced under license from Samuelson & Co. Ltd by E & H Roberts of Deanshanger Ironworks near Stony Stratford between 1888 and 1925. This example still has the wording "Gardner's Patent Original Banbury Turnip Cutter" cast on its panels.
