Budding Patent, No 3157

Budding Patent Lawnmower No 3157 is the second oldest and only other known full size example of the original design. 

The lawnmower is displayed at the Science Museum in London. It can be found on the ground floor in its own display case but was for many years included in the agricultural section on one of the upper floors. Like No 1623 it was also discovered by Ransomes in the early 20th century in Suffolk.

Based on Ferrabee advertisements in 1850 stating "between 3000-4000 of these machines in use" it is possible to estimate that this machine would date from around 1849.
