Budding Patent Retailer - Stratton, Hughes & Co of Bristol
Stratton, Hughes, and Company was established in 1750, initially as Richard Stratton of Clarke Street in Bristol. Stratton was notable for design improvements on farm carts and manure spreaders which won prizes at several agricultural shows.
The company was selling Budding Patent Lawnmowers in 1849, as evidenced by this advertisement from the Farmer's Almanac published on 15 December 1849 and which appears to be in relation to the Smithfield Show, held at the Bakers Bazaar in London the same month.
