Ransomes and May in Ipswich

When this map was produced in 1859, the main Ransomes & Sims manufactory was on the east bank of the River Orwell. It is likely that Ransomes & Sims were still manufacturing "Budding" lawnmowers with the John Ferrabee Registered Improvements No 3074 that had been introduced by Ferrabee in 1852 and taken up by Ransomes and Sims for the 1853 season.

Some sources suggest that Ransomes and Sims were purchasing Shanks Mowers from 1859  but there is no evidence to support this.
