Ferrabee and Son at 13 King Street in Stroud
Kelly's Directory for 1863 lists Ferrabee & Son at 13 King Street, Stroud. In the early 20th century - when this postcard was produced - hatter Charles Burghope Gardner was occupying the premises. In 2025 it is a local estate agency. In Joan Tucker's book " Stroud As It Was" published in 1978, we read that the original facade was rebuilt back in line with the other shops in the street in around 1904, as part of road widening scheme. The compulsory purchase order of February 1903 can be found online. An original photo of No. 13 King Street pre 1904 can also be found online.
