James Ferrabee Catalogue 1863 - Lawnmowers
As far as is known, the 1863 catalogue was the last published by James Ferrabee to feature lawnmowers. This was at around the same time that James Ferrabee started his ill-fated textile business.
JAMES FERRABEE,
FERRABEE'S PATENT NOISELESS LAWN MOWER.
Since the opening of the late International Exhibition, J. F. has succeeded in applying to his Lawn Mowers noiseless gearing of a most simple and durable character, and entirely devoid of the troublesome imperfections which belong to chains or wheels with wood teeth With this improvement,
his Machines are now unrivalled as thoroughly serviceable Lawn Mowers. They can be used at any time and in any situation-they produce on a lawn a beautifully even and uniform surface, free from marks-they have facilities for emptying the grass boxes in the readiest and most convenient manner-- they are strong, durable, and extremely easy to manage and keep in order.
FERRABEE'S HANDY LAWN MOWERS.
Under this head are included Machines of two sizes, marked M 1, and M 2. The smallest (M 1) is unique. It can be worked by a young boy, or a lady may use it as a means of pleasant exercise, and its price places it within reach of everybody. The largest (M 2) is an excellent Machine for one man, who with it can keep in good order a lawn of considerable size without inconveniently interfering with his other duties. Where a large Machine is kept, it would often be found useful to have a "Handy Lawn Mower," to cut verges or intricate places between flower beds and shrubs.
