Ransomes & Sims New Improved - Roller Mounting and other distinctive features

A closer, side view of the Ransomes Improved at Milton Keynes Museum.

One of the most distinctive differences of the new design over previous "Budding-style" lawnmowers is the style and position of the mounting for the rear roller. This can be clearly seen on this picture, with the angle of the mounting slanting downwards from left to right - on all earlier models the position is closer to horizontal with a slight upwards tilt (right to left) and following more closely the line of the rest of the casting.

Another observation is that the pull handle was "wishbone" shaped on the Budding/Ferrabee and Samuelson designed mowers.
