Dock House and Dock Lock at Eastington

The canal has been undergoing further restoration work since this photograph was taken a few years ago. The Stroudwater History page states that in 1777 or thereabouts William Beard was chief carpenter in charge of general maintenance on the Stroudwater Canal. The Canal company built him a house called "Dock House" at Eastington. Edwin Budding's mother was called Mary Beard. The website also says Dock House was built in 1807.
