Carding Machine at Dunkirk Mill, Nailsworth
A carding machine used rows of teasles in a rotary action to condition cloth.
Edwin Budding in collaboration with other local engineers such as John Ferrabee and George Lister designed and improved carding and scribing machines. This preserved one can be seen at the Museum at Dunkirk Mill. This is a "Yorkshire Gig" type which is not the same as the one designed by Budding and Lister.
