Ham Mill Lock and Bridge

The Thames and Severn Navigation was the motorway of the late 18th to mid 19th centuries. Local industrialists like the Ferrabees and the Lewises took advantage of this vital infrastructure for receiving raw materials and sending out finished goods such as the Budding's patent lawnmower.

The canal was being built and finished before Edwin Budding was born. It was a flat and direct route between Eastington and Thrupp, and he would have walked along here many times.
