John Lewis Sr Memorial Plaque

The old graveyard at Stroud Parish Church. Some old graves escaped moving when the church was rebuilt in the 1860s. Some memorial plaques have been retained around the outside of the north wall.

One of the brass plaques reads:

"In Memory Of Jn. Lewis of this Parish Who died May 28th 1770 Aeatis 51, This modest Stone which few vain Marbals can May truly say here lies an honest Man Also of 3 of his Sons & Da.r who died in their infancy."
