Lodgemoor Mill Warehouses
A scene from the towpath of The Stroudwater Navigation. Whereas most mills in the area are either knocked down or, like Thrupp Mill, rebuilt beyond recognition or simply boarded up and closed, the site looks very photogenic and feels very atmospheric. It is still producing textiles, most famously for the covering of tennis balls. All the buildings on the site, most notably the Georgian Cotswold stone ones, would be recognisable to Budding. Indeed some of the facades could be used in a period costume drama!
