Occupation Bridge Showing Submerged Towpath

Whitminster parish, known before 1945 as Wheatenhurst, is the next parish to Eastington. It is believed Edwin Budding's mother Mary Beard came from Wheatenhurst. The parish boundary reached as far as Pike Lock at Churchend, Eastington. Many people gained employment from the canals and the Beard name crops up with jobs linked to the canal.
