James Ferrabee Elected Member of Royal Agricultural Society of England

John Ferrabee died on 24 February 1853. His son James took on the business and was elected a member of the Royal Agricultural Society of England at its next monthly meeting held on 2 March 1853. This was less than a week after John's death. One possible interpretation of this speed is that James considered continued representation of the family name in the society was extremely important for the business.

The Earl of Ducie - founder of the Uley Ironworks - is noted as absent in this report of the meeting. He died in June 1853.
