Death of Alexander Shanks Junior
Alexander Shanks Jnr died on 29 July 1845 when he in his 40s. This was reported in the Dundee, Perth and Cupar Advertiser.
His son James Shanks, although still a teenager at the time, would go on to lead the business to become one of the largest companies of its type during the rest of the Victorian era.
