Collection, Preservation and Display of Old Lawn Mowers

Ransomes & Sims at Irish Exhibition

Ransomes and Sims exhibited at the Dublin exhibition held from 12 May to 31 October 1853.

At the time the business offered an extensive portfolio of products, including Budding's Grass-Cutting Machine. This article does not list which items they manufactured or sold wholesale. The three mower sizes listed are the sizes at that time were being made by James & Henry Ferrabee.

Ransomes & Sims started to manufacture or in their own words "arranged for the manufacturer" of the Ferrabee Registered "Budding's" Improved type lawnmowers from 1853. No precise date has yet been found in original archive material to say exactly when.

  • 20. Budding's Grass-cutting Machine.

This is an effective machine for cutting the grass on lawns, pleasure grounds, &c. It is easily adjusted to cut any length, and in operation leaves no seam or grass upon the lawn.
