Early Mower Sales

Detailed records of early mower production do not  exist. However, there are several references to the number of machines sold in contemporary magazine articles and advertisements. Using the first known mention of the respective numbers (ie 1000, 2000, 3000 sold/shipped etc) and plotting these against the date produces this chart. 

Although the numbers and dates should only be considered as approximate it is nonetheless possible estimate the age of the five known Budding mowers manufactured by Ferrabee as each carries a unique serial number. 

This assumes that the first mower made was numbered 1. It is possible that numbering started at 100 or 1000 but this is not known and there is no documentary evidence to suggest that this was the case.
