Site of Thames Head Pumping Station

The Thames and Severn Navigation summit was at Thames Head, near Coates, Cirencester. A beam pumping engine built on the cornish steam cycle was installed at this location. John Ferrabee was commissioned by the navigation company to assess the engine for improvements and make recommendations. The pumping house is gone and a modern farmstead is now around the site.
