Site of Thames Head Pumping Station

The summit of the Thames and Severn Navigation was at Thames Head, near Coates, Cirencester. A pumping station was built here and a beam pumping engine operating to the Cornish steam cycle was installed. John Ferrabee was commissioned by the Navigation company to assess the engine for improvements and make recommendations. The Pumping house is gone, and a modern farmstead is around the site.
