Fulling Stock Hammers
In around 1828, John Ferrabee removed the water wheel powered cloth fulling mill equipment from Thrupp Mill to make room for a foundry. Around this time, Edwin Budding was also in part of the mill manufacturing his Pepperbox Pistols. The barrels and metal components were no doubt cast by Ferrabee.
These preserved fulling hammers were rescued from Cam Mill and can now be seen at Dunkirk Mill Museum, Nailsworth. They have the same design as those that would have been at Thrupp Mill when it was run by the Wathen family.
