The Phoenix Ironworks, Thrupp, Stroud

View from the Bagpath side of the Golden valley showing The Phoenix Ironworks. The Georgian Upper Mill building of ashlar Cotswold stone blocks is prominent in the foreground with the railway line to Swindon.

On the other side of the Stroud to Cirencester road, to the right the cluster of buildings, is the Brimscombe Brewery of Smith & Son which operated from c1856 and was sold in 1915 with a subsequent takeover and closure c1919. The current Stroud Brewery, on a site to the right of The former Upper Thrupp Mill, was founded in 2006.
