Dissolution of Partnership Between Richard Clyburn and George Lister
A short lived partnership between Richard Clyburn and George Lister that was based at the former Shepherds Mill, Uley, was dissolved on 7 August 1840.
Subsequently, the foundry and Ironworks business known as "Uley Ironworks" continued under the title and patronage of Henry George Francis, Earl Of Ducie.
Shortly afterwards, on 15 October 1840, Richard Clyburn, Edwin Budding and The Earl of Ducie were named on patent No. 8660 concerning "Machinery For Cutting Vegetable And Other Substances."
Richard Clyburn had registered a joint patent "Improvements In power Looms" with John Ferrabee at Thrupp in 1836. Clyburn was described in this as "of the same place", suggesting Clyburn was working at Thrupp prior to setting up his own business with George Lister at Uley.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership now and heretofore existing between us the undersigned, Richard Clyburn and George Lister of Uley, in the county of Gloucester, Iron-founders, Millwrights, and Engineers, carrying on business under the name, style, and firm of Richard Clyburn and Co. has been this day dissolved by mutual consent: As witness our hands this 7th day of August 1840.
