Site of Brimscombe Port

Completed in the 1780s, the Port of Brimscombe became a busy transport hub. After the decline and closure of the canal in the 1930s, the canal and its basins were concreted over and the site was repurposed with industrial units in the 1960s but these have now been demolished. There is a proposal to construct a new channel of the Thames and Severn Canal to include a small marina and housing. Sadly, apart from Port Mill, once occupied by James Ferrabee, only two other original buildings from Edwin Budding and the Ferrabee's era survive at the Port.
