How to sharpen up newly restored Webb Witch Cylinder?
Hello all
Just recently finished my second restoration, a Webb Witch. I'm pleased with the result and it looks lovely in its original colours and with transfers reapplied. I've attached some photos.
I'd like to use it...!
But I can't work out how to sharpen it. I bought a cylinder sharpening kit from amazon thinking that would do the job, and discovered it simply doesn't work with the Witch because of the shape of the cylinder guard etc.
I tried looking at Youtube and beyond finding a guy spinning his cylinder on an industrial grinding machinem there wasn't much else. What would people advise doing?
Thank you all in advance.
Best wishes

Hi Dave. Thank you that's very helpful. Not sure I want to take it all apart again just yet! I'll give the backpacking technique a go.

You need to replace the missing bottom blade screws before attempting anything.

Hi. Look up backlapping . Use a water based grinding paste and a paint brush . Paste available from Amazon.
Rotate blades in reverse as you brush on paste. Adjust your blades after a few turns. Rinse with water dry and check if blades need touching up. OR remove cylinder and take it to be ground minimum £45
