Suffolk Punch 14S
I'm new to the site and I fully appreciate that a Suffolk Punch 14s doesn't constitutes to being an old mower. However I have bought one to get me started. I was hoping someone on here would be able to give me some information regarding the Punch model. such as -:
What type of engine would it have fitted?
Is there information how to recon the Punch model?
Also if there are books specific to this model including setups, Carburettor settings etc...

Wrist pin thank you for replying. Are the photos sufficient or maybe some full shots? I recently retired and would like to take up a hobby for my workshop.
The mower fires up ok but once the choke is moved it tries to cut out. It also leaves a strong petrol smell but there are no witness indications as to any leaks. I have had it standing on cardboard for two days and the cardboard is still clean...?
I think that your machine has
I think that your machine has a Tillotson carburettor and it probably needs a careful clean. Suffolk / Qualcast never produced much in the way of servicing / overhauling information but I will see what I have in the way of an illustrated parts list which may be useful.
EDIT
Have a close look at the carburettor , I think that it will be a Tillotson but it may be a Tecumseh.
If it is a Tillotson this may be useful.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/nq90j0l7qlquqa4/Tillotson0001.pdf?dl=0
If not I will look again.
Actually it is a tecumseh. It
Actually it is a tecumseh. It is, as wristpin wrote, clogged with petrol residue. When taking apart you might need to replace the 2 rings around the jet (red plastic).

Henno. Thank you for the reply. Would you be able to recommend where to go for parts?

Wristpin, I have checked the
Wristpin, I have checked the carburettor and it is a Tecumseh. I will strip down the carb and clean it through. Henno agreed with your cleaning required and also some red seals... Do you have any recommendations for where to go for parts?
Thank you and I will keep an update going... Though at the moment I have the en-suite ripped out.

Pete
I have found that a supplier
I have found a supplier JAPG to be useful for difficult to find parts. I’m sure that others are available ..
EDIT. This may be your Tecumseh carb and the O rings that Henno refers to are item 14 part number 29610069

Wristpin and Henno
Thank you both for the JAPG suggestion. I have ordered the parts and awaiting delivery. When I start the Punch I will include photos and updates. I think it may be next month before I begin the overhaul / reconditioning due to some other household commitments.
I know I will be coming back to you men again during my working and thanks again for your help.

The Punch name with various prefixes and suffixes has been around since the late 1950s , so a few decent images of yours will help.
