AFAIK Jon is still up and running - he's been referred to more than once in the last few months.

Are you sure you are not thinking of an ultrasonic cleaner, rather than using electric current? That strikes me as a dodgy thing to do with something that could contain petrol residues.

All the best for 2022.

Electrolytic cleaning of metal fuel tanks ( not carburettors) is mainly to remove rust , although it does seem to remove a fair amount of gunge in the process.  Just google electrolytic cleaning and then re- think the process so as to use the fuel tank as the electrolyte ( water+ washing soda) negative connected container . The positive electrode is hung through the filler and insulated from the tank. Quite a slow process and I sometimes leave it “ cooking” for as much as a week with frequent flush outs and positive electrode cleans. For a badly contaminated carburettor an ultrasonic cleaning tank is the way to go but careful application of carb cleaner from an aerosol can with a thin application straw will often be sufficient.

Jon Cruse is still in business - at least, he was just before Christmas.!

Every day is a school day round you, Angus!

I'm hoping that we will use a 50L drum of medium at work this month, at which  point I will at least have a container big enough to do big lumps of rusty junk (once I've finished the Lancaster kit, built the pond... you get the picture!)
