VILLIERS TWO STROKES - PRESSING IN THE BRONZE MAIN BEARINGS
Thank you to UTC who sent me a lot of valuable Info on the Mark VI to Mark VIII Villiers two strokes.
Just reassembling a VIII-C or rather making one up from various donor engines.
In the Villiers literature I have, I see no preference on what angle to fit the bronze main bearings into the crank halves.
Naturally there are holes drilled vertically in the crankcase inners for the "petroil" to feed down to the mains, and the bronze mains themselves have a gallery ring to feed through to the surfaces.
Several engines we have dismantled, the oil groove in the mains are at varying angles,
Logically one could align the hole in the main bearing with the oil hole gallery in the crankcase, but is this correct?

Dad & myself have pressed the main's in, with the lubrication hole nearest the crankcase inlet, some new drilling to the bronze bushes had to be made due to Villiers design modifications. Vernier used to check oil gallery holes align, then after pressed in; tested with oil can.

Testing the oil gallery is clear.

Rain today, so probably will continue with the replacement / rebuild / correct engine for the Shanks Wizard, that I have took on the stewardship of since the 2023 AGM
As per various articles previously on the forum.
