Engine flush or not?

Just rebuilding a ransomes Typhoon major & was wondering if it is worth flushing the sump on the villiers 150cc engine? The oil that came out was quite black but not thick or gritty.

When you are ready to run it, I’d just top it to the full mark, give it some serious work to get the oil good and hot , then drain and refill . Modern detergent oils are formulated to hold soot etc in suspension so  oil can look black soon after refilling.
