Leaking fuel caps

Several of my mowers have fuel caps that leak when thay are being used, namely Atcos and my Ransomes Sprite. The innards in the cap is either non-existent or perished.

What method do OLC members have for stopping the leak? I have tried cutting up old beer mats, (ah the days when you could go into a pub and use a beer mat!), with very limited success.

If you are inserting a splash

If you are inserting a splash shield / baffle , make sure to put a pin hole through it so that air may enter the tank to allow the fuel to leave.

Quite a few caps will have a baffle of some sort and quite a thick cork washer around the internal perimeter to seal against the top edge of the threaded tank spigot.

Either make your own or try Jon Cruse at the Hailsham Mower Centre.
