I am not sure how it is in Britain, but here in Australia we can take a colour to the paint retailers and they will colour match particularly motor vehicle paint suppliers. The other source for painting small jobs like parts on mowers is the aerosol cans of paint, there are that meny manufacturers and colours you would have to be pretty stiff not to be able to get a close match.
